Aaron Paul Joins Need For Speed

Following the mantra of his Breaking Bad co-star Bryan Cranston (who’s managing to appear, or at least be linked to, just about every current Hollywood blockbuster), Aaron Paul; better known as crystal-meth-cook Jesse Pinkman on Breaking Bad; has just signed on as the lead in the upcoming big screen adaptation of Need For Speed.

John Gatins (Real Steel) and his brother George are currently scripting the Need For Speed movie, which will be directed by Scott Waugh (Act Of Valour), and “rooted in the tradition of the great car culture films of the 70s while being extremely faithful to the spirit of the video game franchise.”

As of yet there’s no indication of plot (though we do know the film will be an original work, and not focus on any single video game release), or an official start date, but with writer, a director, and now a solid lead actor (who will soon be seen in Smashed, and A Long Way Down) in place, it shouldn’t be too long before there’s a little more Need For Speed news.
