Absolutely Fabulous Movie On The Way

It’s been a hugely successful show since it first appeared on the BBC back in 1992, and now it looks as if creator and star Jennifer Saunders may soon be bringing her best loved sitcom to the big screen; by created an Absolutely Fabulous movie.

While nothing is concrete at this point, BBC Films are hoping that Saunders will draft a script for the film next year (once her work on the Spice Girls musical is complete), and see Edina (Saunders’ PR guru; who acts just like a typical, spoiled, bratty, teenager) and Patsy (her chain-smoking, sex-mad, alcoholic, best friend; played by Joanna Lumley) waking up on a deserted yacht with a killer hangover and no memory of the night before.

So while the plot sounds as if the film would likely just be a cheap British imitation of The Hangover, it’s still likely to both excite and instill dread in the hearts of Ab Fab fans in equal measure, but as nothing is fixed as yet and there’s no script to speak of, it’ll be sometime before we actually see Edina, Patsy, and Edina’s straight-laced daughter Saffron (Julia Sawalha) up on the big screen.
