Al Pacino Joins The Humbling

Al Pacino (The Godfather) has just signed on to appear in the upcoming movie The Humbling; which is based on the Philip Roth novel of the same name; about a previously famous actor named Simon Axler (the character Pacino will be playing) who has a crisis of confidence, and slips deep into depression before a relationship with a younger woman helps to break his downward turn.

While the woman is still to be cast (as is just about every other part in the film), we do know that Barry Levinson (who worked with Pacino on HBO’s You Don’t Know Jack) is attached to both write and direct the movie, ahead of a number of other project he and Al have in the pipeline; including a biopic of Phil Spector, and the real-life mobster tale of John Gotti (in which Pacino will play the underboss to Pulp Fiction star John Travolta’s Gotti, alongside Goodfellas’ Joe Pesci).
