We all knew The Avengers was going to get a sequel as soon as we saw how good it was, and how it just kept on breaking Box Office records, but until recently we weren’t sure if director Joss Whedon would be returning to Marvel’s crossover universe for the sequel, and had no idea when it would arrive; two questions which have now been answered as there’s now an official release date for The Avengers 2.
Fanboys were also overjoyed when they recently learned that Whedon will return to direct The Avengers 2, and should be equally happy to learn that the main Avengers line up is set to assemble once more (with Thor, Hulk, Iron Man, Black Widow, Captain America, and Hawkeye all expected to return), and will presumably once again feature Thor’s brother; the mischievous Loki, when The Avengers 2 is released on May 1st 2015.
