Avengers Age of Ultron EW CoverSince the Marvel Studios movie machine reached full swing, saw the majority of its singular properties come together, and produce not only one of the finest examples of a crossover movie ever seen, but the fantastic superhero showdown known as The Avengers (which was titled Avengers Assemble in the UK, and broke Box Office records everywhere), fans have been eager to see Marvel’s next superhero-mash-up; Avengers: Age of Ultron; the first images of which have just been released online, and are now available to view below.

Coming via Entertainment Weekly (who’s cover features not only the titular bad guy Ultron, but familiar faces Iron Man and Captain America), the latest photos provide not only a first glimpse at Ultron himself (a Tony Stark creation originally intended to be a capable, self-aware, artificial intelligence which went a little ca-ca, and, as these self-aware intelligences always seem to, decided all of humanity was a threat), but a look at the reunited Avengers; Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, The Hulk, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and even War Machine.

James Spader (Stargate, Blacklist) joins the cast as Ultron (via performance capture), alongside returning stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, and fellow newcomers Andy Serkis (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (the Kick-Ass star who’s playing a version of Quicksilver different to the one seen in X-Men: Days of Future Past), and Elizabeth Olsen (the Godzilla star appearing as Scarlet Witch).

Once again written and directed by Joss Whedon, and, of course, due to feature a cameo by Marvel’s own Stan Lee, Avengers; Age of Ultron is due to be released on April 24th 2015 in the UK, before making its official US release date on May 1st 2015, though if you’ve fallen behind on your solo-superhero outings, we’d strongly advise catching up with Captain America: The Winter Soldier before then.
