Johnny Depp Black Mass

Following the first-look image of Pirates Of The Caribbean star Johnny Depp (also recently seen in the first official PotC 5 pic) as James Whitey Bulger in the upcoming gangster film Black Mass, Warner Bros. has just released the first trailer for the film and you can now see the Black Mass official trailer below.

While Bulger, one of America’s most notorious gangsters, served as the inspiration for Jack Nicholson’s character in The Departed, Black Mass will be a much more true to life biopic; charting the rise and fall of the Boston crime-lord who was hailed by many as the new Robin Hood (despite connections to numerous murders, assaults, extortion charges, turning federal informant and generally taking far more money out of the community than he ever gave back) before he went on the run in 1994, was recaptured in 2011 (after nearly 20 years of evading the police) and began serving the two-consecutive life sentences (plus five years) he’s currently serving in a Florida prison.

Directed by Scott Cooper (Out Of The Furnace) and co-starring Joel Egerton (Exodus: Gods and Kings), Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game), Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey), Juno Temple (The Dark Knight Rises) and Kevin Bacon (X-Men: First Class), Black Mass is due to be released on September 18th in the US, before making its official UK release date on September 25th.
