Blitz: Trailer

After reporting only yesterday that the Ken Bruen novel London Boulevard had been adapted into a feature film starring Colin Farrell (Phone Booth), Keira Knightley (Never Let Me Go), and Ray Winstone (Edge of Darkness), and would shortly be getting a theatrical release, a trailer has now been released for another British crime film, also adapted from a Ken Bruen novel; in this case, Blitz.

Blitz revolves around a tough cop, who’s not afraid to bend the rules (and give the odd criminal a well-deserved slap) in order to get what he wants, and his newly appointed, by-the-book, rookie, partner, who are tasked with bringing swift justice upon a London serial killer; who seems to delight in bringing the lives of London’s policemen to an abrupt end, and shoving the surviving coppers collective nose in it, by openly taunting them, and telling them how many more he’s going to kill before he’s finished.

Jason Statham (The Expendables) will be playing the grizzly cop, aided by Paddy Considine (The Bourne Ultimatum), and together they will be tracking down Aidan Gillen (The Wire), in the film that has been written by Nathan Parker (Moon), directed by Elliott Lester (who’s possibly best known for directing music videos), and is the first picture to have been produced by Lionsgate U.K. (who generally only stick to a distributing role).

Filming was completed in London last summer, but so far there hasn’t been an official release date given for Blitz; although the trailer states that it’s due out sometime next year and all indications suggest it will likely be released following the release of The Mechanic (which is due out on January 28th, and stars Statham as an elite hitman).
