Blood Father, Trailer for Mel Gibson thriller

Mel Gibson Blood Father

With his last leading role in an action movie being 2012’s How I Spent My Summer Vacation (a criminally unwatched film which proved to be a real treasure – read our review here), it’s about time Mel Gibson had a big action flick to call his own. Thankfully he has, and it looks to be as gritty as it does great; as seen in the Blood Father trailer below.

Gibson stars as down-and-out tattoo artist, risking his parole to protect his estranged daughter from a band of ne’er-do-well drug dealers, in the film which has been directed by Jean-François Richet (Mesrine), adapted from a novel by Peter Craig (The Town), and has a screenplay from Straight Outta Compton‘s Andrea Berloff.

Co-starring William H. Macy (Fargo), Thomas Mann (Barely Lethal), Diego Luna (Milk), Erin Moriarty (The Watch), and Elisabeth Röhm (Joy), Blood Father is due to be released on August 25th in the UK, but is currently lacking an official US release date.
