Spectre James Bond PosterDuring a huge announcement and press conference today which was also screened live online, we learned the title of the upcoming James Bond film which, up until now, has been referred to as Bond 24 but shall henceforth be referred to as Spectre.

Marking the fourth James Bond outing to place Daniel Craig into the role of the legendary super-spy, ladies-man, mans-man, and all-round cool, suit-wearing/martini-drinking, James Bond, following on from 2012’s brilliant and record-breaking Skyfall, Spectre will see Sam Mendes returning to direct, and be shot in a number of locations across the globe; including Pinewood Studios in London, Mexico City, Rome, Morocco, and Austria among others.

Not only unveiling the official title, but a poster and logo for the film (seen on the right), the shooting locations, and a start date (filming is set to begin on Monday), but also an official synopsis; “A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.”

We also learned that not only will Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, and Ben Whishaw be returning to the fray, but Interstellar DP Hoyte van Hoytema has joined the production, Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained) has a major role as the latest Bond villain, Monica Bellucci (The Matrix Reloaded) and Léa Seydoux (Inglorious Basterds) will be the new Bond girls, and both Andrew Scott (best known as Moriarty in BBC’s Sherlock) and Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista will also appear.

In equally important news there was an announcement regarding 007’s latest mode of transport; yes, Bond’s new car has been spotted, and will be the new Aston Martin DB10; continuing James’ love of Aston Martin’s, in the John Logan, Neal Purvis, and Robert Wade wirtten movie which is due to be released on October 23rd 2015 in the UK, before making its official US release date on November 6th 2015.
