While Matt Damon won’t be returning as Jason Bourne for the latest film in the Bourne franchise, the newly released trailer for the upcoming spin-off The Bourne Legacy (now available to view below), promises plenty of action, and that Bourne was just the tip of the iceberg.
Directed by Tony Gilroy (who served as a writer on the previous Bourne movies), and headlined by Jeremy Renner (The Town), The Bourne Legacy follows the similarly trained assassin Aaron Cross (Renner) as he completes his training, and moves on to completing various dirty jobs for the CIA’s darker side.
Other than what’s shown in the trailer, there’s little known about Legacy’s plot details, though we do know it will co-star Rachel Weisz (The Mummy), Edward Norton (Fight Club), Oscar Isaac (Drive), Scott Glenn (The Silence of the Lambs), Stacy Keach (American History X), and returning Bourne veteran Joan Allen, when it’s released on August 3rd in the US, and on August 15th in the UK.
