In a recent survey conducted by survey specialists 72 Point, 3,000 British men were asked to give their opinions, and help find an official answer to a question that has led to endless discussions, and several heated debates, in pubs all across the country; who is the sexiest mum on TV?

The full list (which can be seen below) brought some surprising results, as coming in first place; ahead of Friends’ Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston), and Modern Family’s Gloria Delgado-Pritchett (Sofia Vergara), who took 2nd and 3rd place respectively; was Lois Griffin, the fictional wife of Family Guy’s main star Peter Griffiin.

And Lois wasn’t the only cartoon character to make an appearance, as even Betty Rubble from from The Flintstones managed to creep into a respectable 4th place (with her red-headed counterpart; Wilma; nowhere to be seen), although all other positions were filled by flesh and blood actresses/characters; with Will’s mum from The Inbetweeners (Belinda Stewart Wilson) completing the top five, and characters from Lost, Eastenders, Heroes, Desperate Housewives, and My Name is Earl, finishing off the illustrious top ten.

The survey was conducted to promote the U.K. release of the first season of the Emmy award-winning comedy Modern Family; which stars Ed O’Neill (Married with Children), and takes the form of a mockumentary that takes a candid look at three different modern families; and is available on to own on DVD in the U.K. from the 4th of October, or right now in the U.S.

The results of the survey, and the top ten sexiest TV mums, as voted for by 3,000 British men, are as follows:

1. Lois Griffin: Family Guy
2. Rachel Green: Friends
3. Gloria Delgado-Pritchett: Modern Family
4. Betty Rubble: The Flintstones
5. Will’s Mum: The Inbetweeners
6. Gabrielle Solis: Desperate Housewives
7. Claire Littleton: Lost
8. Roxy Mitchell: Eastenders
9. Niki Sanders: Heroes
10. Joy Turner: My Name is Earl
