Bruce Lee, arguably the most famous martial artist of all-time, was not only a martial arts master, and successful film and TV star, but an extraordinarily creative individual who left behind a number of unfinished projects when he suddenly passed away from a cerebral oedema in 1973 (whilst finishing post-production on Enter The Dragon), and one of those projects is now being revived by Cinemax.

The project in question, Warrior, is being developed from handwritten notes discovered by Lee’s daughter, Shannon, and will be “set against the backdrop of San Francisco’s Chinatown in the aftermath of the Civil War [and] tells the story of a young martial arts prodigy, newly arrived from China, who finds himself caught up in the bloody Chinatown Tong wars”, according to Deadline’s report.

Fast & Furious director Justin Lin is developing a pilot for the planned Cinemax television series along with Jonathan Tropper; co-creator of one of Cinemax’s most successful properties, Banshee; while Lee’s daughter Shanon will serve as a producer with Bruce Lee Entertainment.
