Bryan Cranston Joins Rock of Ages

Hairspray director Adam Shankman recently Tweeted his joy at adding yet another strong cast member to his upcoming ‘80s hair-band musical; Rock of Ages; stating “So honored! Bryan Cranston is joining the cast of #rockofagesmovie! LA has a mayor!”

So as you can likely gather from that, Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston will be playing the mayor of Los Angeles, in the film that revolves around an ‘80s rock club that’s facing closure, and a young wannabe rock star who starts working there.

Cranston will be joining the already cast Tom Cruise (Mission Impossible); as successful rocker Stacee Jaxx; Alec Baldwin (30 Rock); as Dupree, the club owner; Julianne Hough (Burlesque); as Sherrie, the wannabe rocker; and Catherine Zeta-Jones (The Rebound); who has recently been cast as a moralistic woman who attempts to end rock and roll forever in the City of Los Angeles.

Rock of Ages is based on the classic Broadway musical of the same name, and will begin filming later this month, and receive its theatrical release on June 1st in the US, and will presumably be released in the UK at a similar date.
