Captain America 2 Filming This Year?

As every superhero-movie-fan knows, The Avengers (Marvel Studios’ huge superhero mash-up movie) is due to be released later this year, and even though we’ve already had reports that Thor 2 will enter production shortly thereafter, it looks as if Marvel are extremely keen to strike while the iron’s hot, and are looking to shoot a planned sequel to last year’s Captain America: The First Avenger immediately after that.

Word comes from Neal McDonough (who played Dum Dum Dugan in The First Avenger) that “they’re planning Captain America 2 for the end of this year, because Marvel does one film at a time. So they’re going to do Thor 2, and as soon as Thor 2 has wrapped, they’ll do Cap’ 2.”

McDonough also said that “hopefully, right after that, we’ll jump into Nick Fury”; the one he’s “looking forward to more than anything”; but as details and an official timeline are far from set regarding the eagerly awaited Samuel L. Jackson solo movie, the emphasis on that movie resides firmly on McDonough’s “hopefully.”

Still, for now Marvel fans can rest easy knowing that The Avengers (which will feature Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, The Hulk, and Hawkeye, not to mention the enigmatic Agent Phil Coulson) is due to be released on April 27th in both the UK and on May 4th in the US; before production kicks into gear on Iron Man 3, Thor 2, and Captain America 2.
