Chloe Moretz Offered Carrie

Despite the fact that many a true horror fan was happy to continue re-watching the original time and again, and the fact that Transformers’ star Megan Fox had coveted the role, MGM Studios is pressing ahead with the remake of Carrie, and has now offered the lead role to Chloe Moretz.

Having easily proved she can handle some fairly adult roles, and those concerning some dark subject matter (you only have to look as far as Let Me In – the remake of Swedish horror movie Let The Right One In – for that), should she take the role Moretz will be stepping into the shoes of Sissy Spacek’s infamous role, in a new take on Stephen King’s story; which is reported to be more grounded than the previous outing.

Kimberly Pierce (Boys Don’t Cry) has signed on to direct the new film; which will once again focus on a distressed teen who, when pushed to the limit, unleashes her telekinetic powers on her classmates to devastating effect; and although it’s not confirmed as yet, reports indicate that both Jodie Foster (The Silence of the Lambs) and Julianne Moore (Hannibal) are on the shortlist to play Carrie’s overly religious mother, in the film which is yet to have an official release date announced.
