Chris PrattWhile it’s still extremely early days yet, and he’s only just accepted the role of Cowboy Ninja Viking, Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt has reportedly entered early talks to join the planned remake of The Magnificent Seven.

Due to be directed by Antoine Fuqua, and star Denzel Washington (the pair who most recently collaborated on the brilliantly brutal action movie The Equalizer, and more famously Training Day), the remake of the 1960 film (which featured Steve McQueen and , and was itself a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai) will have a slightly different setting than the original western, which saw a group of seven gunfighters persuaded to protect a Mexican village from local bandits.

Fuqua’s movie will be set following the American Civil War (when the era of the Wild West was coming to an end), is due to be scripted by John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side) and Nic Pizzolatto (True Detective), and could now see Chris Pratt taking on the role of a character called Farraday (created for the new version of the tale), in the film which is yet to secure an official release date.
