Cobie Smulders joins British comedy Songbird

Former How I Met Your Mother star Cobie Smulders (now Avengers regular Maria Hill, and seen opposite Tom Cruise in last year’s Jack Reacher: Never Go Back) has just signed on to appear in the upcoming British comedy film Songbird.

Coming from jamie Adams (Black Mountain Poets), Songbird will follow the story of Joanne Sykes, the lead signer of a popular ’90s indie rock group who applies to university on a whim (fearing her life will be left empty with the impending collapse of both the band and her relationship with her boyfriend), but finds her expectations of constant wild parties turn into a reality of yoga, kale, and dating a Librarian called Pete.

Co-starring Jessica Hynes (Spaced), Noel Clarke (Brotherhood), and Emily Atack (The Inbetweeners), Songbird is filming now in Cornwall, ahead of an as yet unannounced release date.
