Damien Lewis cast as Ocean’s Eight villain

With Ocean’s Eight, the female Ocean’s Eleven, rolling ahead and amassing a dream cast of leading actresses to take on what we can only imagine will be an exceptionally clever heist (unless they’re making the unlikely move away from cleverness, and planning, to a Fast & Furious style approach?), we were always going to need a strong, sly, and highly capable actor to tussle with the likes of Sandra Bullock (Demolition Man), Cate Blanchett (Robin Hood), and Anne Hathaway (The Dark Knight Rises); enter Band of Brothers, Billions, and Homeland, star Damien Lewis.

Lewis will be starring as Bullock’s former lover, and the target of a well-thought out revenge plan, in the Gary Ross (The Hunger Games) directed movie which co-stars Dakota Fanning (Man on Fire), Helena Bonham Carter (Fight Club), and Sarah Paulson (American Gothic), and is set to feature a cameo from Ocean’s star Matt Damon (likely to link this spin-off to the Ocean’s Eleven series), who’ll undoubtedly be annoyed how the girls are so much more efficient than Daniel’s team (three whole people more efficient) when Ocean’s Eight is released on 8 June in the US, ahead of an as yet unannounced UK release date.
