The reboot of Universal’s monster universe will include a remake of Bride of Frankenstein, and they’ve acquired accomplished screenwriter David Koepp to pen the script. Also, in not so official news, Variety is reporting that the studio may offer a role and the director’s spot to Angeline Jolie.

Koepp wrote the scripts for Jurassic ParkMission: Impossible and War of the Worlds, so is no newbie to genre films. The details of any of Universal’s monster films are being kept quiet, so it’s hard to say what will be required of Koepp, but most people agree that Universal will update their stories and have them take place in the modern world, while tying them all together Marvel-style.

The original Bride of Frankenstein was released in 1935, was directed by James Whale and starred Boris Karloff, Colin Clive and Valerie Hobson. Along with Dracula and The Invisible Man, it is one of the most acclaimed horror movies of its time.
