Deadpool Trailer

From pictures of him sitting on the toilet, to hitchhiking to Comic-Con, and spoofing everyone from Burt Reynolds to The Hunger Games, Deadpool‘s marketing campaign has been a thing of hilarious beauty thus far; something which shows no signs of slowing down; as you can see by watching the first official Deadpool Red Band Trailer.

Viewer discretion is advised, as this undeniably fun look at Fox’s latest take on a Marvel property does feature a few swears, and some NSFW humour from the Merc With A Mouth; once again played by Ryan Reynolds (after debuting the character, in a rather underwhelming way, in X-Men Origins: Wolverine); but then, what’d you expect from an R-rated Deadpool movie?

For those unfamiliar with Deadpool, the story follows a former Special Forces type named Wade Wilson who, after finding out he’s literally riddled with cancer, undergoes an experimental operation which leaves him horribly scarred, but toting Wolverine-like healing powers.

The film, which co-stars Ed Skrein (Ill Manors), Gina Carano (Haywire), T.J. Miller (Big Hero 6), and Morena Baccarin (Homeland), will then see Wade (aka Deadpool) hunting down the man who he believes ruined his life.

Scripted by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (the pair behind G.I. Joe: Retaliation), and directed by Tim Miller (his first feature, following a stint as a VFX guy, and serving as second unit director on Thor: The Dark World), Deadpool is due to be released on February 5th next year in the UK, before making its official US release date on February 12th 2016.
