Defendor Denied Theatrical Release

1

‘Defendor’ is the story of Athur Poppington, a regular man who becomes a radical superhero (despite having no superpowers, and having had no form of training) named Defendor, in order to try and catch his arch nemesis; Captain Industry.

It stars Woody Harrelson (Zombieland) as the delusional Arthur/Defendor, Sandra Oh (Grey’s Anatomy) as his psychiatrist, Kat Dennings (Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist) as a local prostitute he befriends, and Elias Koteas (Shutter Island) as Chuck Dooney; a crooked cop who is less than fond of getting limejuice in his eye.

Unfortunately, despite a brilliant trailer (which can be seen below), ‘Defendor’ is losing out to the much more hyped (although less promising) Kick-Ass, and will not be receiving a theatrical release here in the U.K. It did have an extremely limited run in the U.S. but wasn’t overly successful, as it was only released in a limited number of theaters after Sony opted out, and the production company, Darius Films, was left to release it independently.

However, our sources at Darius Films, and Sony, have confirmed that ‘Defendor’ will be making an appearance in Britain, with a home release scheduled for sometime in July. Stayed tuned for more information, and a full review of the home release (the DVD is confirmed but a Blu-ray, although it looks unlikely, has been neither confirmed nor denied as yet), closer to the final release date.
