Django Lives! Writer Hired

Quentin Tarantino may have made Django popular again with the fantastically fun Django Unchained, but the original gunslinger was played by Franco Nero, and will be again; in the upcoming Django Lives!

Django was released in 1966, and Franco Nero reprised the role of the titular outlaw for Django 2 (in 1987); becoming one of the best loved icons of the spaghetti Western subgenre; and considering the 21 year gap between films 1 and 2, maybe the 28 years that’ve passed since Django 2 aren’t too much of an obstacle to overcome.

Nero obviously doesn’t think so, appearing keen to step back in Django’s boots, and loudly singing the praise of newly hired writer John Sayles; “His Lone Star [which he wrote and directed] is one of the greatest modern westerns ever shot. He knows how to be exquisitely cultivated and people-oriented at the same time, exactly like another master I’ve worked with, Mr. Orson Welles. And that says a lot.”

So far there’s no director attached, or start date, but Western fans will be watching with baited breath to see if it’s true, to see if Django Lives!
