After breaking out as a solid action star, it seemed as if Dwayne Johnson (formerly known as The Rock) had relegated himself to children’s adventure movies, until appearances in both Faster and Fast Five put him firmly back on most films fans radars, and into the action genre, and now it looks as if he’s attempting to combine both career paths, with a possible appearance in the upcoming G.I. Joe 2.
Currently known as G.I. Joe 2: Cobra Strikes, the film will be the sequel to 2009’s G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra, and would place Dwayne in the role of the Roadblock; a cookery enthusiast turned soldier who sports an M2 Browning machine gun; should the current negotiations result in a firm offer an acceptance.
Should Dwayne join the film, he’ll star alongside the returning Channing Tatum (The Eagle), in the Jon M. Chu (Justin Bieber: Never Say Never) directed movie that doesn’t have any other cast members attached to return as yet (Inception’s Joseph Gordon-Levitt has confirmed that he will not be back), but could be used as Paramount’s replacement to its Star Trek sequel; should that film be delayed and unable to make its summer 2012 release slot.
