Dwayne Johnson To Headline Bourne-like Franchise?

Dwayne JohnsonAfter almost single-handedly reinvigorating the Fast & Furious franchise, and racking up so many successful movies last year he shot to the top of Forbes’ list as the Highest Grossing Actor of 2013, Universal are keen to keep a consistently busy Dwayne Johnson at the forefront of their upcoming projects, and are hoping to cast him in the planned adaptation of Robert Ludlum’s The Jason Directive.

Known as the creator of the Bourne novels (adapted into a hugely successful franchise for Universal) Ludlum’s Janson Directive revolves around a consular agent who leaves his life as a covert-operative after the killing all becomes too much for him, and he partners with a sharpshooter, creates his own private security firms, and attempts to use his skills as a means of helping those in need (in order to atone for his former life).

Whilst currently in talks for the role, which Universal hope could form the beginning of a new Bourne-like franchise, Johnson (aka The Rock) remains a busy man, and will soon have a number of films heading towards cinema screens across the globe; with Hercules due to be released later this month, Fast & Furious 7 out next year, and a potential G.I. Joe 3 on the horizion, not to mention next year’s San Andreas, and the upcoming TV show Ballers.
