Dwayne Johnson’s Rampage Lands Its Director

Shortly after starring in the enjoyably-huge disaster flick San Andreas, Dwayne Johnson was confirmed to be starring in the planned big screen adaptation of classic video game Rampage and, counting both San Andreas‘ success ($460 million globally and counting – Warner Bros.’ best result of 2015 so far) and the disaster-heavy nature of Rampage, it should come as no surprise to learn San Andreas director Brad Peyton has just signed on to direct.

Peyton will also produce the movie, which [should it stick to the limited plot of the source material] will see a group of everyday people experimented on and transformed into giant monsters; essentially King Kong, Godzilla, and a giant Wolfman; before rampaging through various cities, and stomping on/punching anyone and anything who tried to stop them.

Ryan Engle (Non-Stop) is on script duty, and appears to have found a worthwhile story to pit Dwayne Johnson against a trio of tyrannical monsters as soon as he’s finished working on Fast & Furious 8, ; plotting to release Rampage in for 2017.
