Coming once again from what appears to now be the main source of information for all movie related projects including The Rock, Dwayne Johnson has just posted the first look as his character Hobbs from the upcoming Fast and Furious sequel Fast 8 to Instagram (you can see the image on the right – click to view full size).

With the photo showing Hobbs seemingly stripped of his cop persona, Johnson included the following caption:

When you strip a man of all he has. All that’s important to him. You force him to return to his roots.. and sometimes that’s a very dangerous and twisted place. If I was going to return for another Fast & Furious I wanted to come in and disrupt the franchise in a cool way that got fans fired up and their blood pumping to see a new version of Hobbs and his ‘Daddy’s gotta go to work’ mentality and set the table in a cool way for where the character goes in the future. Maybe it’s a spinoff movie. Maybe it’s more #FF movies. Or hell maybe Hobbs just gets on his motorcycle and rides off into the sunset never to be seen again.

It doesn’t give too much away but suggests darker times are ahead for Hobbs, and hopefully that he’ll be getting a bit more screen time here than he did during Furious 7, when returning stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jason Statham, and Kurt Russell, are joined by Scott Eastwood (Gran Torino), and a new villain named Cipher (Charlize Theron, Mad Max: Fury Road), for an official Fast 8 release date of April 14th 2017 in both the US and UK.
