It was way back in 2001 that the first Harry Potter movie began to grace cinema screens across the globe, and not long before it became an instant filmic hit (the books had already gained a massive, and ever growing cult following) that captivated the masses worldwide, and paved the way for a movie franchise that has become the highest grossing film series of all time (without adjusting for inflation), and in order to celebrate its passing; after the final film in the series is released later this year; the London premiere promises to be a truly spectacular one.

Seeking to provide an iconic backdrop for the premiere of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2 (the final film in the franchise, and second half to Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows; part one of which was released November last year), organizers sought to place it against an instantly recognizable British landmark, and decided to hold it in London’s Trafalgar Square.

Home to the world famous Nelson’s column, and only a short walk from the iconic cinemas house in London’s Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square will provide the perfect platform for the world’s media, and film’s adoring fans, to see the filmmakers, the movie’s cast, crew, and their guests, attend the premiere which will be instilled with a further sense of occasion; as it will be the first ever red carpet film premiere event held in the iconic Square.

Boris Johnson (Mayor of London) stated that “for the last decade we’ve been gripped by the on-screen battle between Harry Potter and his arch enemy Lord Voldemort, and this [Deathly Hallows Part 2] is one of the most eagerly awaited films in history”, adding that not only is it a “British triumph”, but that Trafalgar Square is the perfect place to “stage the most spectacular send off for this dramatic finale.”

President and Managing Director of Warner Bros. Pictures U.K.; Josh Berger; stated that the premiere; which is due to be held on July 7th; will be “a magical experience for both guests and fans”; who will begin the night in Trafalgar Square before moving on to Leicester Square to watch the film, which will be released across the U.K. and Ireland on July 15th.
