First Leprechaun Origins Poster

Leprechaun 2014 Poster 01Looking extremely different from the Warwick Davis originals, WWE Studios and Lionsgate have just released the first poster (to the realms of San Diego Comic-Con) for their upcoming Leprechaun prequel movie; Leprechaun: Origins; and you can now see the official poster on the right (click to view the image full size).

With wrestler Dylan Postl (perhaps better known as Hornswoggle) stepping into the guise of the Leprechaun, and VFX veteran Zach Lipovsky directing, Leprechaun: Origins will form a prequel to the surprisingly successful horror series which first placed Warwick Davis into the role of the tiny titular killer back in 1993 (before spawning five sequels), and aims to put a modern day spin on the franchise (according to WWE boss Michael Luisi).

While bypassing the theatrical route and shooting straight to DVD in the US (on August 26th) there’s still no official UK release date for Origins; which sees a couple backpacking around Ireland finding the fiendish fellow in a cabin in the woods. So, for now at least, you’ll have to settle for looking at the poster, and examining this first look at the new Leprechaun.
