Frankenstein to be Helmed by Shawn Levy?

While the comedy/family movie director Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum) is movie out of his comfort zone with his next film; Real Steel; it seems as though his follow-up project may be taking him further afield; as there’s currently talk of him pushing back his remake of Fantastic Voyage, in favour of directing a new version of Frankenstein.

Once again based on the Mary Shelley tale of a scientist who creates a living being only to have things go downhill and see the locals turn on it, the film is being scripted by Max Landis, and although Levy’s involvement isn’t fully secured as yet, and he’s reportedly considering a number of future projects, he is being pursued by Fox; who have apparently set their sights on Levy after discussing the film with David Yates (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows), Ron Howard (Cinderella Man), and Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Ultimatum).

Before then however, you’ll be able to see Levy’s next film, Real Steel; a sports movie with boxing robots, and a tale of family drama at its heart; when it’s released on October 7th in the US, and on October14th in the UK. You can also find the trailer for Real Steel here, or read what Shawn has to say about the film here.
