Fright Night Trailer

Vampires, Vegas, Colin Farrell, comedy, and horror are all on offer in the upcoming remake of Tom Holland’s 1985 horror/comedy Fright Night; which recently had its first official trailer released online (which is now available to view below).

Directed by Craig Gillespie (Mr. Woodcock), the new Fright Night stars Anton Yelchin (Terminator: Salvation) as Charley Brewster who, with the help of his horror obsessed friend (portrayed by Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Superbad), discovers his new neighbour Jerry Dandridge (Farrell, The Way Back) is a blood-sucking vampire.

Convinced that Jerry is after not only the majority of the local women, but his own mother (played by Toni Collette, The Sixth Sense) and girlfriend (Imogen Poots, Centurion), Charley decides to fight back against the dangerous vampire with an arsenal of traditional weaponry, and a crazed magician named Peter Vincent (David Tennant, Doctor Who).

It remains to be seen whether this remake will successfully capture the spirit of the original, but seen as how anything and everything to do with vampires and werewolves is something of a hot property nowadays (see The Twilight Saga, HBO’s True Blood, or the Underworld series), Fright Night should attract a decent amount of attention when its released in the US on August 19th, and makes its way into UK cinemas on September 2nd.
