From Act of Valour to Need For Speed

After directing the recently released Act Of Valour; the movie which used real-life Navy SEALs to accurately portraying SEALs in the tense action movie; Scott Waugh has now officially signed on to direct Dreamworks’ upcoming Need For Speed movie.

Adapted from the EA video game series of the same name (which has been running since 1994 and shows no signs of slowing down), Need For Speed will apparently be faithful to the spirit of the games, whilst simultaneously emulating “the tradition of the great car culture films of the 1970s.”

Scripted by George and John Gatins (She’s Out of My League producer, and Real Steel writer, respectively), Need For Speed is expected to enter production sometime next year, ahead of a 2014 release, and is a movie Steven Spielberg says Dreamworks “are excited to bring to life”, and “based on an epic game that seems made for the movies.”
