UPDATE:

Since posting, Sky have confirmed Game of Thrones Season 5 will air on Sky Atlantic the day after the US broadcast; with the Season 5 premiere set for Monday April 13th at 9pm.

Sky Atlantic being available exclusively to Sky TV customers, and streaming service NOW TV (with a NOW TV Entertainment Month Pass); both services which will be offering Game of Thrones seasons 1-4 On Demand (from March 1st), so viewers can catch up ahead of the new series.

UK fans will also be able to access the world of Westeros as Sky are bringing Game of Thrones: The Exhibition to Sky Backstage at The O2 in London, from February 9-12, and again from February 15-17.

UPDATE ENDS.

Fans have been flocking to Westeros to see HBO’s hugely impressive, expansive, realisation of George R.R. Martin’s series of fantasy novels (A Song Of Ice And Fire) for four seasons already and, as last year’s season four managed to top Matt’s list of 2014’s Best TV Shows, it’s no surprise fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of the show, and should be thrilled to learn HBO have just announced the Game Of Thrones Season 5 premiere date.

To minimise potential spoilers for anyone not up to date with the show, we won’t discuss exactly which cast members are returning, but simply say the fifth season will deal with the fallout from the shocking twists of season four, see the kingdom of Dorne playing a much larger role than ever before, and debut its ten episode season on Sunday April 12th at 9pm on the US network HBO.

So far, we’ve not heard of a confirmation of the UK premiere date, though judging by past years each episode will air the following evening (on the Monday) on Sky Atlantic. Many fans may also be hoping for a broadcast at the same time as the US, like we received with the season four premiere (airing at 2am Monday morning UK time). But either way we will update as soon as more information is available.
