Gary Oldman Created Robocop

We’re nearing ever closer to the release of Christopher Nolan’s final Batman movie; The Dark Knight Rises; and the last time we’ll see Gary Oldman playing Gotham City cop Commissioner Gordon, but Gary’s keeping busy (he’s got a rather important role in Lawless), and has just landed a part in the upcoming Robocop remake.

Powering ahead at MGM Studios, and due to star The Killing’s Joel Kinnaman as the titular robot-police-man Alex Murphy (formerly portrayed by Peter Weller), the Jose Padhila (Elite Squad) directed remake will place Oldman as the scientist who creates Robocop when filming gets underway this coming August in Toronto, ahead of a summer 2013 release date.
