Gerald McRaney Joins Tarantino’s Western, Django Unchained

As many Deadwood fans feel they were robbed of a satisfying conclusion to the George Hearst/Al Swearangen storyline, there’s at least a chance they may get to see Hearst get him comeuppance (in some form at least); as the actor who played him, Gerald McRaney, recently signed on to appear in Django Unchained.

For those who don’t know, Djano Unchained is the upcoming western, and latest project, from Quentin Tarantino (Reservoir Dogs), and stars Jamie Foxx (The Kingdom) as the titular Django; a slave who’s freed of his bonds, and sets out on a quest to free his wife from her vindictive master.

Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Basterds) is attached to play the German bounty hunter who helps Django in his quest, and will be joined by Leonardo DiCaprio (Inception); as the vile plantation owner who’s keeping Django’s wife; Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction); as DiCaprio’s right-hand slave; and Kevin Costner (Prince of Thieves); as a sadist who trains males slaves to fight one another, and oversees the prostitution of the women slaves; when Django Unchained makes its US release date on Christmas Day (December 25th) 2012, ahead of its UK release on Boxing Day (December 26th) 2012.
