Godzilla 2 loses Gareth Edwards

While Gareth Edwards seemed set on helming the sequel to the Legendary/Warner Bros.’ upcoming Godzilla sequel (after successfully helming the first giant monster outing), he’s now left the project – citing a wish to focus on more of his own original projects.

Edwards’ departure comes hot on the heels of Godzilla 2 being delayed until March 22nd, 2019, and the announcement of a planned sequel; Godzilla Vs. Kong.

Wether or not the two announcements and Edwards’ departure are connected we’ll probably never know, yet Edwards won’t be short of work; as he’s not only in post-production for his Star Wars prequel Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (released December 16th in the UK), but set to tackle a film titled Forever, following a child searching for the origin of the human race, in a future ruled by robots.
