Guy Pearce Joins Iron Man 3

With news only recently breaking that Shutter Island’s Sir Ben Kingsley would be playing the villain in Iron Man 3, we now have an extra addition to the cast; in the form of Memento’s Guy Pearce.

Pearce will enter the franchise as geneticist Aldrich Killian who, as comic book fans will know, appeared in Warren Ellis’ Iron Man: Extremis run of comics, and will end up creating a type of nanotechnology that ends up falling into the hands of terrorists (presumably Ben Kingsley), and causes Tony Stark/Iron Man (once again played by Robert Downey Jr.) to begin dabbling in the world of nanotechnology himself.

Due to be directed by Shane Black (Lethal Weapon), who co-wrote the script with Drew Pearce (No heroics), Iron Man 3 will see both Don Cheadle and Gwyneth Paltrow returning as Stark’s best-friend/ally Rhodey/War Machine and secretary/love interest Pepper Potts respectively, is due to begin filming next month, and is slated for release, in both the US and UK, on May 3rd 2013.
