As we’ve already seen The Jungle Book and Cinderella, and know both Beauty and The Beast and The Lion King are on the way, it shouldn’t be a surprise to learn Disney are also planning a live-action take on their classic cartoon Aladdin; which Deadline have confirmed will be directed by Guy Ritchie.

Ritchie, who made his name with British gangster flicks Lock, Stock and Snatch before moving onto Sherlock Holmes, and an upcoming King Arthur movie (due to be released next March), will be working on the film which was originally set to focus on how the genie wound up living in the iconic lamp, but currently sounds more like a simple live-action remake of the tale we know so well.
