Hans Zimmer Retires From Superhero Scores

While his music may have become a staple of the DC brand in recent years, legendary composer Hans Zimmer has said Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be his final superhero score.

Speaking to BBC Hardtalk, Zimmer said “I did Batman Begins with Chris [Nolan] 12 years ago, so The Dark Knight Trilogy might be three movies to you, to me it was 11 years of my life.” He’s clearly invested a great deal of time in the sound of the  superhero world; following his work on Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises with Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, and the recently released Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (which also involved work with Mad Max: Fury Road composer Junkie XL), but is now stepping back from the comic book world in an attempt to find more varied projects.

Hans’ next film projects involve Dunkirk (for Christopher Nolan), and Ron Howard’s Inferno. Following his ever ever live tour (featuring live performances of a number of Hans’ best and most recognisable scores), which kicks off in London on April 6th night.
