Hesher: Trailer

Over a year after it was first screened at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, the first trailer for Hesher; a drugged-out indie drama about despair, grief, and inter-personal-relationships; has now been released online, and is available to view below.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt leads the cast as the titular druggie Hesher, who’s favourite things involve loud music, pornography, and ‘burning shit to the ground’; all things he introduces into the lives of T.J. (Devin Brochu, Rubber) and Paul (Rainn Wilson, Juno), when he moves into their home uninvited.

Suffering from the crippling grIef of having T.J.’s mother die in a car crash not too long beforehand, Paul doesn’t have the strength, energy, or will, to kick Hesher out of their home (technically T.J.’s grandmother’s home), despite the fact that as well as being T.J.’s kind-of mentor, he’s also his biggest tormentor.

Yet while Hesher’s unusual ways drag T.J. into more trouble than he ever would have imagined; and lead him to stalk an attractive store clerk (played by Black Swan’s Natalie Portman) who aims to become his protector; Hesher’s anarchy begins to jolt the family from their grief, and help them once again embrace life.

Written and directed by Spencer Susser (best known for his short films, and The Offspring Complete Music Video Collection) Hesher was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at last year’s Sundance, and is not only a compelling drama, but a showcase for the true acting talent of Joseph Gordon-Levitt (as Hesher is starkly opposed to the characters he portrayed in both Inception, and 500 Days of Summer).

While it still doesn’t have a release date scheduled for the U.K., Hesher is due to be released in the U.S. this coming April.
