Highlander Remake Gets a New Director

Just like The Crow, it’s another remake that keep gaining and losing key members of production, yet the upcoming remake of Highlander (which Summit Entertainment have been trying to get off the ground for sometime now) may have just eyed another new director; none other than Juan Carlos Fresnadillo.

Highlander’s directing job came up for grabs after Justin Lin (Fast Five) dropped out of the chair in favour of focussing on the next Fast & Furious movie, leaving 28 Weeks Later writer Juan Carlos free to step in and take the reigns of the; film which has already been through a number of various script drafts, the latest of which was polished by Twilight’s Melissa Rosenberg.

Yet despite Juan Carlos filling the formerly vacant director’s chair, Highlander is still some ways off having an official start date; as not only have no stars been found to play leading roles of the immortal warriors locked in a centuries long battle to behead one another (previously played by Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery, and Clancy Brown), but he’s also attached to film Relativity Media’s remake of The Crow (which is itself still in a turbulent state; as it’s just lost another leading man; with Bradley Cooper bowing out of Brandon Lee’s former role).
