British actor and Band of Brothers star Damian Lewis looks set to soon deliver another gripping and powerful TV performance, when he headlines the upcoming Showtime drama Homeland; which has just had its official trailer released online (now available to view below).

Starring as US Marine Sergeant Scott Brody, Lewis plays a man who was taken prisoner during the 2003 invasion of Iraq, presumed dead, and then unexpectedly rescued nearly a decade later; at which point he returns home to find himself under the surveillance of the CIA, who believe he may have been converted into a terrorist, and could be planning a large-scale attack on US soil.

Laura Fraser (A Knight’s Tale) stars as Brody’s wife; who began seeing his best friend after his ‘death’; while Claire Danes (Stardust) stars as the obsessive CIA agent determined to prove Brody’s become involved with Al Qaeda, and Mandy Patinkin (Criminal Minds) plays a longstanding CIA chief.

Homeland has been produced by 24 veterans Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa, contains a number of extremely intriguing and poignant themes (is he or isn’t he a terrorist? can a marine be converted to such an extreme?), and has been produced for the Showtime network; the channel that brought you Weeds, Dexter, The Tudors, The Big C, and Californication; making it definitely one to look out for.
