Homeland’s Morena Baccarin Joins Deadpool

20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards PresentationWith a number of stars recently becoming attached to the first big screen solo outing for Marvel superhero Deadpool, many people though the female lead in the Ryan Reynolds led movie had already been cast, but until now that wasn’t the case; as Homeland star Morena Baccarin has just signed on for a highly sought after part.

While it’s not clear exactly who Baccarin will be playing (the character bio of a woman who meets and falls for the deadly hero sounds rather unfulfilling for an actress of her calibre), we do know Ryan Reynolds will be reprising the role he first inhabited in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and be directed this time by first-timer Tim Miller (best known for his vfx work, and for serving as second unit director on part of Thor: The Dark World).

Co-starring Gina Carano (Haywire), T.J. Miller (How To Train Your Dragon 2), and Ed Skrein (The Sweeney), as well as a brand new Colossus (with X-Men star Daniel Cudmore confirming he won’t return), Deadpool is set to start shooting this March, ahead of a February 12th 2016 release date in both the US and UK.
