Hop: Teaser Trailer

Hot on the heels of releasing a teaser poster (which can be seen on the right hand side) for Hop; Universal’s Easter based animated comedy; the studio has now provided a teaser trailer (which can be seen below) for the film; which is cute, and fun to watch, but gives away absolutely nothing about the movie’s plot.

The dialogue free trailer simply shows the animated Easter Bunny rocking out (Dairy Milk Gorilla style) on the drums to Blur’s “Song 2”, and suggests that either there’s not enough footage yet ready for a ‘real’ trailer, or that Universal believe putting the team behind Despicable Me in charge, is enough to make for a successful animation (something which may prove true, as Despicable Me has grossed over $500 million worldwide).

Russell Brand (Get Him to the Greek) will voice the animated Easter Bunny in the finished film, which will see him run over by a layabout played by James Marsden (Death at a Funeral, 2010); who is then tasked with taking over the bunny’s Easter duties, and end up forming a lasting friendship with the long-eared wonder that constantly squabbles with him.

And while the end of November/beginning of December is generally associated with a religious holiday that’s pretty different to Easter (Christmas), the Hop will get its theatrical release at a much more appropriate time; when it opens on April 1st, 2011.
