Inception and The Dark Knight Go Mobile With Warner Apps

Beginning yesterday Warner Bros. Digital Distribution arm allowed the world to see the latest way in which it aims to bring content to the customer; aiming to target the mobile masses; by releasing App Editions of two of its most loved titles, The Dark Knight and Inception.

Continuing to lead the market in video-on-demand Warner’s App Editions are now available on the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, and give fans an entirely new way to own the special editions of their favourite movies; as while digital downloads of the films may have been available before, the App Editions not only offer five minute previews, and snippets of bonus content (including trivia, games, and soundtrack samples, among others) for free, but the ability to purchase the entire film (and special features) in-app, and connect the experience with a number of social networking platforms.

While watching one of the downloaded films you can connect to Facebook or Twitter, sharing your favourite movie quotes, and reading what’s being said online about the film in real-time; something that Thomas Gewecke (President of Warner Bros. Digital Distribution) believes is a great idea; because “for many, watching a movie is a social activity and App Editions are the first mobile product to deliver this capability on a global scale; offering a fully connected experience, allowing viewers to engage with others around the world.”

The App Editions are also extending Warner’s reach into other markets; as the Inception, and Dark Knight App Editions are available in over 30 territories (many of which have never had access to films through iTunes), with menus in 16 different languages, and subtitles in 34; and look to increase in the future, with Gewecke stating that “a full slate of App Editions, including new releases and catalog films” are due to be released this year.

Both the Inception and The Dark Knight App Editions are available now from the App Store on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, or via http://store.apple.com/uk/
