While many people were unsure about letting an American play a famous British Prime Minister on screen, even more were unsure about seeing a film about the Prime Ministerial equivalent of Marmite, but nevertheless Mamma Mia’s Meryl Streep will soon be seen as Britain’s first (and so far only) female Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, in The Iron Lady; the second trailer for which has just been released, and can now be seen below.

Focussing more on Margaret Thatcher the woman and the struggles she faced in gaining and maintaing her power (rather than the effects of the policies she enacted), The Iron Lady co-stars Jim Broadbent (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Richard E. Grant (Dracula), and Anthony Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), and is due to make its controversial debut on January 6th in the UK, before making its US release date on January 13th.
