Finally announcing his post-Suicide Squad film, Jared Leto has now been confirmed as the lead actor in The Outsider; the upcoming film from Danish director Martin Zandvliet (Land of Mine).

Originally set to be the English-language debut film from Takashi Miike (13 Assassins), and star Tom hardy (The Revenant), The Outsider has been scripted by Andrew Baldwin (the man behind Idris Elba’s upcoming thriller Bastille Day), and takes place in a post-WWII Japan; where an imprisoned American soldier (Leto) is freed by a Yakuza cellmate, and ends up falling into the criminal underworld in an attempt to repay the favour.

The Outsider is set to begin filming this Autumn, but Leto will be onscreen as the infamous Batman villain The Joker in Suicide Squad, on August 5th.
