Jason Statham and James Franco Join Homefront

Telling the tale of an ex-DEA agent who moves away in the hopes of leaving his previous life behind, only to find the small town in which he lands is home to a drug baron named Gator, Homefront has just gained its two lead actors; Jason Statham, and James Franco.

Statham (who’s soon to be seen in The Expendables 2) will be taking on the role of the DEA agent, while Pineapple Express star James Franco will be playing the gangland drug-pusher who, funnily enough shares his nickname with Will Ferrell’s character in The Other Guys, and will undoubtedly find himself on the wrong side of The Stath soon enough (a place countless action movies tell us isn’t a safe place to be).

Due to be directed by Gary Fleder (Runaway Jury), Homefront comes from a script by Statham’s Expendables co-star Sylvester Stallone, will see both Stallone and Avi Lerner (The Expendables) producing, and is due to begin filming in New Orleans this September, for a release sometime next year.
