Jodie Foster Heads to Elysium

After the fairly impressive District 9, many onlookers were eagerly waiting to see what director Neil Blomkamp would take on as his next project, and after months of waiting he finally confirmed in December that it will be a mysterious sci-fi project he’s developing, titled Elysium.

Whilst the majority of the plot is still being kept a secret by Blomkamp (the only details he’s provided so far have the film taking place on another planet, in the very distant future), the cast list is coming on quite nicely; with Jodie Foster (The Beaver) being the latest name attached to the project that already has District 9 star Sharlto Copley and True Grit’s Matt Damon already committed to appear.

Elysium is being produced by Media Rights Capital (the firm behind The Box, The Invention of Lying, and Bruno), but despite the promising director, and growing cast list, it hasn’t yet been sold to a studio, so doesn’t have an official release date; although it is projected to hit screens sometime in 2013.
