Coming from Simpsons/Futurama veteran Rich Moore, Wreck-It Ralph (previously titled Reboot Ralph) follows the adventures of a classic arcade game bad guy, who suddenly has a change of heart, and decides to turn good, and has just found a voice; courtesy of Cyrus star John C Reilly.
Tired of always being thwarted by his game’s good guy; a character named Fix-It Felix (who’s being voiced by 30 Rock’s Jack McBrayer); Ralph decides to hop into a newly released first person shooter alongside it’s hard-nosed sergeant Calhoun (Glee’s Jane Lynch), and try his hand at being a good guy, but accidentally releases a powerful enemy who threatens to destroy all of the games in the arcade.
Also starring comedian Sarah Silverman; as the voice of a racing glitch; Wreck-It Ralph is a film that director Rich Moore says is “unlike anything anyone’s seen before” as “we journey with our hero through three visually distinct video game worlds” while Ralph asks the question “isn’t there more to life than the role I’ve been assigned?”
Due to be released in the US on November 12th 2012 (the date previously held by the upcoming Monsters Inc. prequel; Monsters University; until it was pushed back to 2013), there’s no confirmed UK release date for Wreck-IT Ralph as yet, though it will likely touch down before Christmas 2012.
