Johnny Depp In Talks for Pirates of the Caribbean 5

Despite the fact that he’s previously said he wanted a break before donning the now iconic pointed hat and piratey swagger again, Johnny Depp has just entered negotiations to once again reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow for a fifth entry in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise; something which should come as no surprise, seen as how Pirates of theCaribbean: On Stranger Tides (the fourth film in the series) released passed the $1billion mark at the worldwide Box Office, and is continuing to rake in the doubloons.

On Strangers Tides’ impressive Box Office results come in spite of generally average-to-bad reviews, and prove that Pirates seems to be a fairly critic-proof series, and make it no surprise that Disney would want to further milk their huge cash cow; with producer Jerry Bruckheimer reportedly holding fevered meetings in order to bring Depp to the table (which he has now accomplished).

There’s no word yet on a start date as yet (likely because Depp hasn’t officially signed on just yet, and already has a busy schedule; which includes work on Disney’s Lone Ranger), but if both Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer have their way, it won’t be too long before a fifth film and a release date are officially announced.
